French language and Francophonie week 2021
Dis-Moi Dix Mots 2020-2021 EDITION
Organized by the Alliance Française Miami Metro and the Alliance Française of Puerto Rico
Supported by the Consulate General of France in Miami, The French Cultural Services in the US and the Consulate General of Canada in Miami.
Every year, The French language and Francophonie Week takes place around March 20, International Francophonie Day. Several events are planned in France and abroad, to show our attachment to the French language by celebrating its richness and diversity.
Alliance Française Miami Metro and the Alliance Française of Puerto Rico launch, across the schools of Florida and Porto Rico (either with a French bilingual Program or offering French classes taught as a foreign language) the 2020-2021 edition of the “Dis-moi dix mots” contest.
Each year, a theme intended to convey a message about the French language and ten words illustrating it are chosen by the various French speaking partners of the OPALE network: France, Belgium, Quebec, Switzerland and the International Organization of the Francophonie (representing 84 states and governments).
The purpose of the contest is to invite the students to play and express themselves and give free rein to their creativity with ten words in either a literary or artistic form: ten words to write, recite, sing, draw, photograph or film...!
2020-21 Edition : « Dis-moi dix mots qui ne manquent pas d’air ! »
“Tell me ten words that (don't) lack air!"(literally) … tell me ten words that have some nerve.
The new edition invites everyone to draw inspiration from words that evoke the air in all its forms. Air is indeed a natural resource, a common good to be preserved for the future of humanity. It is also associated with life, energy, health, but also mobility and circulation. A source of sensations, depending on whether it is hot or cold, embalming or foul smelling, air is also the breath of life that connects us to others. It symbolically evokes adventure, a border to be crossed. Ten words are offered here, as an invitation to travel, reflection, pleasure and poetry. Let yourself be carried away by the breath of your imagination...
