Vanessa Selk is the Cultural Attaché of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Miami since September 2016.

French Diplomat since 2008, she has been working at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs on European, African and Strategic Affairs in Paris, before working as Political Negotiator on Human Rights issues at the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in New York from 2014 to 2016.

On the cultural and artistic level, she has been directing or been involved in theatre companies in Paris and New York and directed and wrote several contemporary plays; she also assisted contemporary art galleries based in Paris, New York and London during exhibitions and art fairs. As Cultural Attaché in Miami, she directed several cultural events in visual and performing arts, film and academics and notably founded the Tout-Monde Festival, the first Caribbean Contemporary Arts Festival in the United States. Her French Guianese and German origins helped her develop a new vision of a Caribbean France through a renewed and diverse programming of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Florida and Puerto-Rico.

Her double-path educational background (Master in International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris on the one hand, and a certifcate of Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s and of Performing Arts at le Centre des Arts de la Scène in Paris, on the other hand) led to her expertise in the field of political and cultural arts direction, inspiring her to elaborate a Masterclass on « Art and Politics » at the Alliance française of Miami Metro.
