The Alliance Française Miami Metro is thrilled to launch its Book Club, bringing together literature lovers for monthly
discussions and exclusive author interviews.
Monthly Themes
We'll alternate between:
- One Author/One Book in English on topics about France, moderated by Ann Morrisson
- One Author/One Book in French
When? AFMM Book Club meets once a month. Discussions are held on the announced date,
followed by a Zoom interview with the author the following week.
Where?
All discussions happen at the Alliance Française Miami Metro | 100
Biscayne Blvd Ste 2120, Miami FL, 33137,
with the author interview held online via Zoom.
Who can join?
The Book Club is open to all book lovers, whether you prefer reading in English or French.
– $10 for members (discount applies automatically)
– $20 for non-members (become a member)

About the author
Katherine J. Chen is the author of Joan: A Novel of Joan of Arc (Random House US / Hodder & Stoughton UK), which won the 2023
American Library in Paris Book Award and has been translated into nine languages, and Mary B (Random House US). Her essays and
reviews have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, the Times Literary Supplement, The Telegraph, The
Wall Street Journal,
The Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Electric Literature,
Literary Hub, and other publications, with forthcoming work elsewhere. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Boston University’s MFA
program in Fiction and is pursuing her doctoral degree in English at Brown University, where she is studying Henry James. Her next book,
which is under contract with Random House, will explore through a realist lens the complex and violent world of Arthurian legend, focusing
on the sibling dynamic between Morgan le Fay and King Arthur.
About the moderator
Ann Morrisson is a former editor for Time Inc. magazines in New York (Executive Editor of Fortune), Hong Kong (Editor-in-chief, Asiaweek),
and London (Co-Editor, Time Magazine’s European edition, with her husband Don). She has taught journalism in the Global Business Journalism
Program at Tsinghua University in Beijing and at Sciences-Po in Paris. Her freelance work has included feature stories in the New York
Times, Financial Times and Berkshire Magazine. She is an advisory board member of the American Library in Paris (ALP), is on the screening
committee for its annual book prize and has moderated book clubs for ALP members. She also serves as board member and secretary of the
Becket (MA) Arts Center and is a trustee of TheatreWorks, a UK charity that provides free theater tickets to young people from disadvantaged
communities. She holds degrees from the College of New Rochelle, the University of Pennsylvania and the London School of Economics.
